Constellations of Ego
A collaboration with my art collective Shadow Traffic, held in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY, this project encouraged New Yorkers to consider the possibility of the sky, an open space where we have the potential to connect with our stories, our common ground, and communication. Reimagining the vast rooftops of warehouses in NYC as an open prairie, we set up “campfires” led by femme and POC storytellers who served as our guides to lead us toward new horizons of possibility.
Participants were led to the rooftop through a series of photographic clues inside a vintage Viewfinder, and then were given a handmade woven star as they ascended to the roof. Once there, they could wander this “frontier” and engage in communal storytelling with a warm cup of cider. May 2018.
