Imagination Invasion from Planet Space

Imagination Invasion from Planet Space was a collaborative project with Jebney Lewis, as the first offered through the Learning Through Photography program sponsored by Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA.

We worked with 6th grade language arts students from Warren G. Harding Middle School in Philadelphia to develop alter-egos and three collaborative movie plots, then brought them to life through the creation of professional movie posters. The students called the shots as the “client” with a team of movie professionals: a photographer, costumer, makeup artist, and graphic designer to construct the final movie posters. The posters were then shown to youth writers from the Philadelphia Young Playwrights, who developed film treatments based just on seeing the movie posters. The project cumulated at Moore, where the Harding 6th graders listened to the film treatments by the young playwrights, and chose winners for the script that best fit the original movie plot they created. This 3-month-long collaborative project focused on empowering young people to direct creative choices, meld their alter egos and storylines into a solidified plot, and create fantasy narratives for their own dreams and reality. September 2013 - June 2014.
